In 2003, the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation established the President’s Volunteer Service Award to honor the vital contributions of volunteers to America’s strength and national identity. Cmtyhelp has partnered with AmeriCorps and the Points of Light Foundation to serve as an official certifying organization for this prestigious award.
The President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) honors U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents for their unpaid volunteer work that benefits others. The awards are determined by the number of hours volunteered within a year, with categories including Bronze, Silver, Gold, and the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award (for those who have contributed 4,000+ lifetime hours). The award is open to various age groups: Kids (5–10), Teens (11–15), Young Adults (16–25), Adults (26+), and Families/Groups. Recipients receive a personalized certificate and a letter signed by the sitting U.S. President.
